I'm American and was married to an American girl for 28 years and I must add that she was a step above most Western girls but never-the-less was still of the Western culture and mindset. My job or work had me traveling and working in different parts of Asia for 25 years during which I would take short breaks or vacations remaining somewhere in Asia. During my previous marriage I would try to bring my wife and kids along to travel and experience what I thought would be the greatest gift I could give them in cultural education. For a few short years my wife and daughter would come along but later seemed to gain some animosity towards the Asian culture. More than they were already taught to have. About a year after my divorce my life began to fall apart and I really had no place to go so I would continuously visit Thailand, the Philippines, China and others as well as an occasional visit to European countries. I met my current wife (Thai) during one of my stays, later marrying her and have remained married for 6 years so far. All I can really say is that she's an angel from Heaven and that she likely saved my life. I'm not an easy guy to live with I know and my Thai wife and I often do not agree where I become needlessly angry because I'm looking for that "Western Woman Fight" and I always later feel so stupid and guilty because not one time ever has she done anything except to hold me and try with her almighty best to make me happy, so much so that I would sometimes ask her to quit trying to make me happy. I brought a lot of emotional and financial and family baggage into our relationship always thinking that as soon as the money was finished then so would the relationship be finished. I grew up in America being taught, and I still hear it quite often about the "Asian gold digger" attraction and I used to believe it myself and I was continuously and obviously on guard for it. Well the money ran out but my Thai wife still thinks that I created life. She's absolutely beautiful in every way and her looks and skin do not require makeup but everyday she applies makeup and gets her hair done so that she can appear to me in her best possible way. She very strongly demonstrates her care and love for me at home and in public. She has more heart than all of the "Western" women I've ever known and she puts all of her heart into me. I absolutely 100% agree with your assessment and opinion and if anything, you may have underestimated the quality a little, at least from what I've experienced. Just a note; we are very financially poor by American standards but it doesn't seem to have any effect on her. I believe the key is that once she realized that I truly loved her and would make the sacrifices that I made to stay with her including going broke she blossomed into what most all of the Asian girls have the potential of doing. I know all of her girlfriends and they all have that same potential. She makes me smile even when I don't want to smile. After 28 years of what I thought was a fairly good marriage I have only now begun to learn how powerful love really is. I’ve never known anyone back in America to be loved and cared for as much as she cares for me. It must simply be in their genetic code.
